Contractor Pre-qualification
Establishing a robust contractor assessment procedure is essential for effective contractor management. It’s imperative to ensure that your contractors are capable of executing the required work and have adequate measures in place to ensure safety.
As an employer, your organization bears responsibilities under Section 2 and 3 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, CDM 2007, and CDM 2015. These obligations entail ensuring the safety of your employees and those affected by your operations, including any contractors you engage directly or permit to operate on premises under your responsibility.
Engaging any contractor, regardless of the risk level of their activities, poses potential risks to the safety of employees, both of the client and contractor, as well as other individuals nearby. Hence, all contractors must undergo rigorous assessment and management procedures.
Our chartered safety consultant offers risk assessments, training, audits, and consultancy services to help you identify and manage potential hazards. Let us simplify health and safety management for you, ensuring your business achieves full compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Contractor assessment typically involves two stages:
Prequalification or ‘Stage 1’ assessment:
This evaluates whether contractors have generally compliant health and safety management systems and competency to carry out work before they are permitted on-site.
Project-specific or ‘Stage 2’ assessment:
This focuses on the contractor’s experience, project-specific documentation, and competency.
Establishing a contractor assessment process can be time-consuming and challenging to maintain in a rapidly changing business environment. Let Wooltown Safety Services provide you with the necessary tools to conduct contractor assessments, allowing us to assess contractors on your behalf.
